I have included these “diet” labels (lifestyle eating choices is a better name) to make eating the best way for your body easier on you.
Gluten Free – Recipe is free of all grains (Wheat, barley, rye, etc.) containing the gluten protein.
Dairy Free – Recipe is free of any dairy product, including butter.
Vegan – Recipe is free of any food made or produced from an animal. This includes eggs, dairy, and honey.
Paleo – The paleo diet does not include grains (even gluten-free grains) or legumes (beans, lentils, etc.). Small amounts of certain kinds of dairy are allowed. For a detailed book on this way of eating I recommend “The Paleo Approach” by Sarah Ballantyne.
Paleo Autoimmune Protocol (a.k.a. Paleo AIP) – The Paleo AIP diet removes even more foods than a standard Paleo approach for those who need to heal or manage autoimmune related diseases.
Gut and Psychology Syndrome (a.k.a. GAPS) – A diet specifically targeted to heal the gut and get to the source of the problem with inflammation, neurological diseases and autoimmune disorders. Grains are not allowed on this diet. Specific legumes (beans, lentils, etc.) and dairy products are allowed in limited amounts. If you’re interested in this diet, Jennifer Scribner runs a great online resource website and details the foods allowed and not allowed here.
Specific Carbohydrate Diet (a.k.a. SCD) – Similar to GAPS in many ways, but with a few differences. This website outlines the diet.
